history
The quality of your equipment can sometimes be life-saving. This gets even more obvious when knowing that a leap into freezing water without protective garment can be fatal. Even when surviving the initial cold shock, a loss of consciousness within a few minutes will finally lead to drowning. Therefore we set ourselves the target to provide the maximum amount of safety and quality for people at sea - either with immersion suits for passengers and crews of ships in distress or with special garments for SAR-Teams.aquata was founded in 1977 by Wolfgang Dressler in Berlin, Germany. He holds a Ph.D. in business administration, and worked 5 years as an assistant lecturer at Berlin University of Technology. The product scope of the company included suits for scuba diving, surfing equipment, rescue suits as well as other neoprene products.
The roll-out of its first immersion suit was in 1983. Delivery to German and east European customers started in 1984 with two models approved by the German certifying institution SEE BG. As the Scandinavian market for immersion suits started to grow significantly, our model V20 also got certified by DNV.
In 1993 aquata developed a new model, which was manufactured of a thicker material and therefore especially suited for use in polar regions - the V40. Approval was granted by German SEE BG after accomplishing tough tests at a Russian naval base in cooperation with Lomonossov University and the arctic institute in St. Petersburg.
As SOLAS requirements changed in 2004 we developed the model V20 OP which especially aims at customers which put their emphasis on getting the best cost/performance ratio. The V20 OP is based on the model V20 but is delivered without a pillow for the head. Therefore it must be worn with an additional lifejacket. Furthermore it does not have a harness for helicopter lift-up. In addition to immersion suits we also manufacture rescue suits for various purposes, often even tailor-made to the special requirements of our customers (special suits).
As one of the largest manufacturers of rescue suits - more than 120,000 pieces up to now - we reached a level of experience which is not easily to be found on the market. Our suits are made in our own manufacturing site in Thailand which is completely managed according to European standards. These standards especially apply to our certified quality control system.
All our efforts are made in order to provide the best protection possible for passengers and crews at sea. Make your decision today and choose certified safety from aquata.
